Both on and off piste, the skiing is exceptional. The valley's five resorts, with 220km of piste, are all covered by one lift pass. The slopes range from sunny and family-friendly, to steep and prolonged, with vertical drops of 1400m. Much of the terrain is north and east facing which ensures snow-quality remains high despite frequently sunny winter days. The off piste opportunities round the valley are huge, both within and between resorts.
Zinal's slopes are linked to Grimentz by piste, cable car and also by free bus.
The domain of St-Luc - Chandolin can be reached by free ski bus from Zinal or by a 20 minute car journey.
Vercorin, the smallest of the valley's resorts, is 30 minutes by car. Its forested slopes make a striking contrast to the high ridges, bowls and couloirs you'll encounter throughout the rest of the valley.
The free ski buses stop right outside Chalet Edelweiss - a five minute trip to the Zinal gondola, or 10 minutes to Grimentz.
Cross-country skiing
Zinal has over 19km of prepared tracks which take you across the beautiful Plat de la Lé and along the river, including a floodlit section; an additional 12km forest trail links the villages of Grimentz and Vercorin.
